One of the key decisions for GPU Mining is choosing the right video card.

Whilst we don't sell GPUs here at Rigs, we can recommend a few sources in NZ of video cards.

- MightyApe
- PB Tech
- Computer Lounge
- TradeMe

Note regarding Facebook Marketplace - please exercise extreme caution when buying as scams are very common)

When choosing a suitable Mining card you will need to factor in a few considerations
- How much are you willing to spend on cards
- What cards are currently available (sometimes, this can be very limited)
- Which cards are producing the highest profit
- How power efficient is the card

What does LHR (Limited Hash Rate) mean?

When purchasing a video card / GPU you will probably come across limited hash rates. This is a limiter than Nvidia have applied to their video cards. It reduces the mining hash rate for mining Ethereum. There recently have been a number of improvements in workarounds to improve mining performance.

As at the time of writing this article here are some of the most popular video cards available (all figures in NZD, based on 0.25c per KWH power). Figures based on Profits in October 2021.

How do I choose?

We recommend checking out the availability of cards, especially if you want multiple ones of the same card. You may find that your ideal card is not available, or that pricing has changed. You should build your own spreadsheet and check the latest profitability calculations using whattomine.com or the NiceHash profitability calculator.
